"The birds and the bees are not Vulcans, Captain..."
Some more fluffiness, courtesy of Star Trek: Titus, because it's so cute that it's almost nauseating: Admiral Salok and his wife T'Sing currently have five children sons Silik, Kitak, Xoskar, and twin daughters V'Rul and V'Rea. But, in a few months, they will have a newborn daughter named T'Sar.
Although a long-living race, the Vulcan reproduction cycle, or pon farr, occurs once every seven years. It is only during these brief periods that Vulcans are fertile and able to conceive. Pregnancy, due to the complex anatomy of Vulcans, is a difficult experience, shadowed in ritual and ceremony. To ensure the greatest safety to the mother and unborn child, females are expected to return to the Vulcan homeworld, under the constant supervision of family and healers, at their ancestral home, where are often secluded from their life-mates. In defiance of Vulcan tradition, T'Sing, however, chose to remain on Starbase 60 with her husband and children. When Captain Serek questioned Admiral Salok on this, he replied, "Her argument was most logical..."
(T'Sar-kam, sha'ko-fu is Vulcan for "T'Sar, our daughter." The extension "-kam" after the name is a term of affection. I really loved the way this turned out, particularly the baby Vulcan ears!)
Baby Elizabeth was adorable, but I thought of Baby Spock from the infamous fifth film when I drew this. There's something about the little Vulcan ears on a baby.
